Last week the TGA aired an informative webinar to update the broader industry on the changes that are planned come 1st July 2018. These changes will include both a new Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code and changes to the penalties and sanctions for non-compliance.
In just under an hour, the TGA were able to briefly outline what had been done thus far, what was planned for the next short while and for which important aspects still need work. Public consultation has highlighted a few key areas of ambiguity and the TGA hope to work through these too before their self-imposed 1st July deadline.
The new, enhanced powers now available to the TGA in addressing advertising non-compliance were explained and the proposed approach outlined. This however, is still open for public submission with a link available on the TGA website.
Another webinar is scheduled for 12th June and a roadshow to be rolled out on June 13th in Sydney.
