Sample - Acceptable Use Social Media Policy

As we become more confident utilising social platforms to promote businesses and engage with our customers, it is important to have clear guidelines for contributors.

When the promotions may involve therapeutic goods, there are further, important considerations.

The TGA have developed a social media acceptable use policy, free to copy and use on digital platforms. This policy will help advertisers comply with the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code and support appropriate moderation of comments.

A few key areas that have been highlighted in the policy include disclosure and appropriate use of endorsements and testimonials, avoiding messages that imply a product works outside of its intended purpose and not suggesting trying a product if it is more appropriate to speak with a health professional.

The policy can be copied and pasted into the 'About' tab on your social platforms.
